Filmmaker Guide

Quick reference for setting up and managing your microsite. Your public page lives at /your-slug.

1. Create your account

  1. Sign up at /signup with your name, email, and URL slug.
  2. Check your email and click the verification link before logging in.
  3. Log in at /login with your email or slug and password.

2. Set up your microsite (Microsite tab)

Use the step wizard: Identity → Branding → Content → Social → Review.

  • Identity: Filmmaker name/slug and microsite name/slug. The slug becomes your public URL.
  • Branding: Upload logo and hero image, pick colors and font.
  • Content: Short description and about text shown on your page.
  • Social: Optional links (Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.).
  • Review: Check the summary, then click Save Microsite.

3. Upload videos (Upload tab)

  1. Choose a video file and fill in title, genre, year, and description.
  2. Click Upload Video — the progress bar shows S3 upload status.
  3. After upload, FCS processes the stream (conversion + thumbnail). A second progress bar tracks processing.
  4. Processed videos appear in the Content tab media library and on your public microsite.

Large files use multipart upload automatically. Keep this tab open until processing completes.

4. Customize layout (Design tab)

Drag sections (Hero, About, Media Grid, Social) to arrange your page. Click a section to edit it, then Save Layout.

5. Payments (Payments tab)

Connect your own Stripe Express account to sell or rent content. Each filmmaker has a separate Stripe account — payouts go to you, not Fabricated Crime.

6. Your public microsite

Share your page: https://fabricatedcrime.com/your-slug

Audience members can sign up on your microsite to purchase or rent content (when payments are enabled).

7. Account & sign out

Use the Account tab to change your password or delete your account. Click Sign Out in the top bar when you're done — your session is stored in this browser until you log out.

Troubleshooting

  • Can't log in? Verify your email first. Check spam for the confirmation message.
  • Upload failed? Refresh and try a smaller file first. Ensure your microsite is saved.
  • Video still processing? Conversion can take several minutes. Check the Content tab for status badges.
  • Password issues? Any characters are allowed (minimum 8). Symbols like !@#$% work fine.

Passwords can include any characters (letters, numbers, symbols). Minimum 8 characters.
